Cloaked (not EFF) will host this event. EFF Legislative Activist Rindala Alajaji will be speaking.
From the Organizers:
For Cybersecurity Awareness Month, Cloaked’s CEO Arjun Bhatnagar is connecting with the Electronic Frontier Foundation’s Legislative Activist Rin Alajaji to discuss the threats, legislative activity and data connectivity that impact your security and the safety of your most important connections.
——
AI and evolving technologies are making scams and spam more sophisticated than ever before. This, along with record data breaches, unchecked data broker activity and lax privacy protocols are contributing to major concerns and losses. Last year alone, there were more than 1.1 million identity theft claims in the US resulting in $12.5 billion lost to identity theft and fraud.
In our discussion — Secure Your World, Protect Their Future — we’ll discuss how your online footprint not only provides direct access to you, but also connects potentially bad actors to those closest to you. We'll outline how new technologies are making it harder to detect malicious activity and the roles legislation and personal action play in protecting individual safety and those we care about most.
Takeaways include:
- A deeper understanding of the changing data privacy landscape
- Approaches to advocacy and legislation that are improving safety and security
- Your personal risk and the implications of an accessible data footprint on the collective
- Specific steps and tools to secure your data to improve your safety and that of others
