Webcast

EFF Staff Attorney Hanni Fakhoury and UC Berkeley Samuelson Law, Technology & Public Policy Clinic Teaching Fellow Babak Siavoshy will discuss the meaning and implications of the Supreme Court's pathmaking decision in United States v. Jones, which unanimously held that the government violated the Fourth Amendment when it made warrantless use of a GPS device to monitor a person's movements on public roads for four weeks. This audio webcast will include an overview of the Supreme Court's Fourth Amendment jurisprudence leading to the Jones decision, and an in depth analysis of the three opinions — one majority and two concurrences — that make up the decision itself.  This continuing legal education course will also discuss the practical applications of Jones, the case's implications for the future of 4th Amendment law as applied to emerging technologies, and identify unanswered questions.
